Letter to Potential New Team Members
Compassionate and comprehensive care is reflected in our long visits with providers. For the vast majority of our appointments, our goal is for the patient to have a minimum of 30 minutes face to face with the provider. Exceptions to this are last minute acute care visits approved by providers. Our lab follow up visits range from 30–45 minutes depending on the provider and how complicated the labs are. Annual exams and new patient visits are 60 minutes. This fosters an opportunity for providers to listen to their patients for a glimpse of whole person health.
These lengthy appointment times give the provider ample time to address the patient’s concerns as well as digging deeper into potential root causes and work/home environment. It allows our providers to work with the patient to develop a plan of care that is individualized and respectful. Many members of our community have strong personal belief systems that we strive to respect while offering resources and education for informed decision making. An example of this is in the realm of childhood vaccinations. Some of our families choose not to vaccinate entirely. Some choose only certain vaccines. Others choose a delayed schedule that may or may not include all vaccines over time. Still others choose to follow the full schedule at recommended time frames. We support all of these families equally.
Because our model of care drives significant organic growth within our practice, we have had a steady stream of new patients without the need to advertise. Our patients love our approach to care, they consistently refer their friends and loved ones to our practitioners. We continue to grow in team members to meet the growth of new patients, always looking for providers that wholly support these values in our mission.
Because our focus is not on getting as many patients through the door as possible in a day, our profits are healthy but not massive. We have worked very hard over the last few years to become fully debt-free as a business. While we endeavor to pay our providers a fair wage, we acknowledge that our wages do not compete well with hospitals or larger corporations that may be more profit-motivated in their approach to care. The providers that stay with our team long-term remain because they believe in our mission, they love our patients, they value our approach to care, and they appreciate the respectful team culture that has developed over many decades.
