Family Practitioners
Family Nurse Practitioner/Certified Nurse Midwife

I moved to Alaska from Montana over twenty years ago with my husband, seeking adventure and the opportunity to build a life somewhere completely new. I spent nearly a decade as a nurse, primarily caring for children and newborns—a role that deepened my passion for family-centered care.
Wanting to expand my impact beyond the hospital setting, I became a Family Nurse Practitioner and later a Certified Nurse Midwife. In this role, I have truly found my calling, blending complementary and traditional medicine to provide individualized, compassionate care for patients and their families. I strive to meet each person’s unique needs with a personalized approach to wellness.
Beyond my career, I am a devoted mom to two daughters, and my family embraces the adventure that brought us to Alaska.
Family Nurse Practitioner

I moved to Alaska from the midwest in my early 20s and fell in love with the astounding beauty, openness of spirit, and independence of thought in Alaska. I found a home in Palmer, where my midwest farming roots met the mountains I love. I am so grateful to be raising my three delightful children here.
I am a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Family Medicine. My first decade in healthcare was spent as a nurse in and out of the hospital, primarily working in an intensive care setting. I was happy fixing acute problems but wanted to understand better and solve the underlying upstream causes. I believe in the complex interplay of our bodies, minds, and spirits and that healthcare should likewise be holistic and multifaceted. In my practice, I endeavor to blend western and functional medicine using commonsense and creative solutions to support the whole person’s health best.
Family Nurse Practitioner

As an Alaskan who studied at UAA, I am thrilled to be a Nurse Practitioner at MatSu-Midwifery and Family Health, where I thrive to educate patients and empower them with the know-how to own their health journey. I am all about connecting with our community and helping individuals feel their best. When I’m not in clinic, you’ll catch me mountain biking and hiking on the trails or basking in the sun. I look forward to helping others live healthier, happier lives every day in our amazing Alaskan community.
Certified Nurse Midwife/Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner

My specialty is functional women’s health from puberty through menopause and beyond. My experience as a certified nurse-midwife has revealed the incredible and intricate nature of women’s health and vitality amid childbearing. I am certified in functional medicine, which focuses on treating the cause of illness instead of treating only the symptoms. I partner with women to find relief from conditions such as PMS, abnormal periods, pelvic pain, vulvar conditions, bladder problems, PCOS, infertility, and menopausal symptoms. I also help treat other primary care concerns such as thyroid disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and depression.
My goal is to help women be fully alive in body, soul, and spirit so they can fulfill their purpose to the people around them. I live for the outdoors and love Alaskan adventures with my husband and children.
Family Nurse Practitioner
I have called Alaska home for 45 years. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner with eighteen years of Family Practice Urgent Care experience spanning infants to elders. I am also a certified residential real estate appraiser, and I own and operate an appraisal business. When I’m not working, I enjoy skiing, hiking, jogging, wakeboarding and relaxing with my family at the lake.
Family Nurse Practitioner
I am passionate about providing wholistic care to the lifespan, and as a third generation Alaskan, born and raised in the Mat-Su Borough, I am invested in providing care to our local community. I have been involved in healthcare since taking my first EMT class at the age of 16. After working in emergency services for over 20 years, I started nursing school with the ultimate goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. I am now excited to pursue Functional Medicine training as my family and I have personally experienced the benefits of this approach to medicine. I am excited to incorporate those principles as a foundation to the care that I provide.
In my spare time you will find me farming with my family, and enjoying all of the amazing outdoor recreational opportunities Alaska has to offer.
Family Nurse Practitioner
I moved to Alaska from Washington at the age of 9 and have grown up here in the Mat-Su Valley. I have spent nearly a decade in the inpatient setting both as a nurse and a CNA, with an orthopedic and medical-surgical background. I had witnessed many disconnects between patients and providers and knew I wanted to further my education to make a positive impact while patients are at their most vulnerable. I finished graduate school at Frontier Nursing University, and have practiced in family medicine, infusion, and immunology. I am passionate about getting to the root cause of each condition, and providing evidenced-based options so patients can make informed decisions in their health journey.

Midwives
CDM since 2005

Mat-Su Midwifery has been my “second home” since 2002. I trained as an apprentice here for 3 years and became a certified direct-entry midwife in Oct. 2005. I really enjoy working with our wonderful moms and babies, and with the other great midwives and staff. My husband and I have 4 children (born 1995-2003).
My own birth experiences, ranging from induced labor in a military hospital overseas to a home birth attended by midwives, have convinced me of the importance of midwifery and out-of-hospital birth. I believe that in most cases this setting provides the most comfortable environment for mom as well as the gentlest and safest welcome for baby. I look forward to serving you during this special time!
CNM since 2011
I came to Alaska from Montana over ten years ago with my husband looking for adventure and a chance to build a life somewhere neither of us had ever been. I worked as a nurse for about ten years, caring primarily for children and newborns. I loved nursing but wanted to build a career outside of the hospital, providing care to families.
I became a Family Nurse Practitioner, and eventually a Nurse-midwife, and feel I have truly found my calling in the work I do now while being a great mom to my two daughters. I provide a blend of complementary and traditional methods to my patients and their families, and I tailor the care I provide to meet their specific and unique situation and needs.
CDM since 2023

I am a lifelong Matanuska Susitna Valley resident. I am a wife and the mother of four little blessings. My passion for evidence-based care began with my first pregnancy and birth. After a less-than-desirable experience I knew I wanted to help other mothers advocate for themselves and their babies. Teaching nutrition and birth classes is a natural fit for me as cooking and eating are hobbies of mine, and birth is a miracle that I can’t get enough of. I eagerly anticipate each new group of mamas! Finally as a new midwife my goal is this: “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.”- Mother Teresa.
CDM since 1983

I was born and raised in Alaska. I love everything about it, except the mosquitoes! I have been involved in midwifery since 1983. I have always believed in the strength of women to give birth and that my role as midwife is to encourage them to believe that they can. I love the families that I work with and am privileged to be a part of.
I have a large extended family of 5 sisters and 3 brothers! With that, comes many nieces, nephews and many great nieces and nephews! I have been privileged to help some of them into the world.
I enjoy the snow, reading and cooking when I am not busy.
CDM since 2017
I’m a life-long Alaskan, originally from North Pole. I grew up with midwifery care being the norm, as I and all my siblings were born with midwives. After working with a chiropractor who specialized in maternity and newborn care, I knew I wanted to be involved in women centered care. I went through the Mercy in Action College of Midwifery and apprenticed in Fairbanks at the same birth center I was born at! I graduated in 2017 and immediately went to the Philippines for 5 months to work alongside local midwives in a capacity building and teaching role.
I have spent time working as a midwife in Idaho – most recently as a homebirth midwife. I am also a teacher with Mercy in Action College of Midwifery. I’m a midwife because I am passionate about educating and empowering women and families, and giving them the best and safest individualized care I can, in whatever capacity that looks like.
I love serving the women from my home state, and working alongside the providers at Mat-Su Midwifery!
In my free time I enjoy traveling, drinking coffee, spending time outdoors. and with friends, and dancing.
CNM Since 2014

I am Certified Nurse Midwife and NRP Instructor Mentor who has been serving in community birth since 2014. I started my career in EMS in the 90’s, and then moved on to my Alaskan adventures, working Ketchikan and Kodiak as a Labor Nurse for 14 years. I am now the owner and lead facilitator at Midwives Untethered, and I travel teaching midwives and birth workers across the country. My business is flourishing, but I find myself looking for chances to serve birthing women face to face. To keep connected to birthing families, I spend time in Fairbanks and the Valley working with home birth and birth center practices, providing extra midwives when they need a break. I love getting to work with birthing families, while helping the regular midwives to get much deserved time off! I am devoted to ensuring that families are informed and empowered to advocate for themselves, and I am honored to get to spend time with you during your pregnancy and birth journeys.
CNM Since 2026

As a Certified Nurse Midwife, I’m passionate about providing safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care to individuals and families through every stage of life including primary healthcare, family planning, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and menopause. My background spans ICU nursing, birth center nursing and doula work, and hospital Labor & Delivery, giving me a strong foundation for holistic, person-centered care in both the clinic and birth space. I strive to help the people I care for feel informed, supported, and confident in their journey.
As a Colorado-native turned military spouse who has spent time across the US, I am very excited to be putting down roots here in the Mat-Su Valley! When I’m not at work, you’ll likely find me out on a trail hiking or snowboarding, digging in the garden, or curled up with a good book.
CNM Since 2026

As a fifth-generation Alaskan, I come from a long line of people rooted in community and service. I love caring for individuals across the lifespan — from helping young people feel confident in their healthcare, to supporting families through pregnancy and birth, to walking alongside patients through menopause and beyond. To me, midwifery is about being a trusted guide, helping patients feel informed, supported, and confident as they navigate their healthcare decisions.
I was captivated by a midwife when I was just 17 years old, and from that moment on, I knew this was the path I wanted to follow. Throughout my nursing journey, I have been fortunate to care for families in many different settings. I began in an out-of-hospital birth center, where my passion for birth and midwifery truly took root, and later spent several years working as an LDRP nurse in the hospital setting. These experiences deepened my respect for the strength, individuality, and stories each person brings with them.
Outside of the clinic, I am an Alaska-grown wanderer — a homebody who loves to explore. You may find me camping, traveling, or enjoying time at home cooking a meal or doing a puzzle. I feel incredibly lucky to do this work and to care for the communities of Alaska. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring my love for this state and my passion for midwifery to the families I serve.

OB/GYN
Doctor of Medicine since 2007
Raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I pursued my medical education at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. In 2024, I transitioned from active duty to the reserves, enabling us to continue living in a place that we call home. Professionally, I am deeply committed to Obstetric care, emphasizing a collaborative, team-based approach to ensure the best outcomes for expectant families. I am passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare throughout the entire spectrum of women’s health.
In Gynecology, I focus on addressing the unique needs of individuals experiencing chronic pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction. I provide a comprehensive array of medical and surgical management options, striving to enhance the overall well-being and quality of life for my patients. My approach is grounded in empathy, understanding, and a commitment to offering personalized care.
Through my work, I aim to positively impact the lives of my patients, ensuring they receive the highest level of care and support throughout their health journeys.
In addition to his work in gynecology, Dr. Kujansuu provides full-spectrum obstetric care, including hospital births and planned cesarean (C-section) deliveries when needed.
