Certified Direct Entry Midwife / Certified Professional Midwife
I became interested in midwifery when I was in labor in the hospital with my first son! I thought “There has to be a better way!”. I didn’t find it before my second son was born, but I did find a doctor and a midwife to do a homebirth with my third son, then also a fourth son! What a difference there is when a woman feels in control, and able to participate in the birthing process! God made our bodies to be able to do this! I trained first as a childbirth educator, attended lots of births as a coach, and then became a midwife through the apprenticeship model in Alaska. I also took an advanced midwifery course in El Paso, Texas. I’ve been delivering babies for 27 years now, and it is the passion of my life! I have a wonderful, supportive husband of 40 yrs., and 4 great adults sons with children of their own. I love hiking, kayaking, and spending time with my family…..but they all know I will be enticed away if someone goes into labor!
